Christ Church St. Michael's Parish, located in St. Michael's, Maryland, traces its roots to 1672, making it one of the oldest Episcopal parishes on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Originally part of the Church of England, it became a central spiritual and community hub for early settlers. The current Gothic Revival church building, constructed in 1878, stands on the site of earlier worship spaces and features distinctive stone architecture and stained-glass windows. The parish continues its mission of worship, outreach, and spiritual growth.
We are a Christ-centered, Spirit-filled congregation committed to living out our faith through worship, prayer, service, and fellowship. United by the love of Jesus, we seek to grow spiritually, support one another in grace, and share God’s light with our community and the world.
Our church committees help guide and sustain our shared mission. From maintaining our sacred space (Buildings & Grounds), to supporting those in need (Outreach, Pastoral Care), to nurturing community (Parish Life) and stewardship (Finance), each group plays a vital role in the life of Christ Church. All are welcome to serve.
Our usher will greet you with a big smile and give you a bulletin in which the entire service is printed. The bulletin also includes announcements and a calendar of upcoming events
You are free to sit wherever you would like. If you need some assistance or have any special needs, the usher would be happy to help you.
A typical Holy Eucharist service lasts about an hour and 15 minutes. It consists of two major parts: the Liturgy of the Word (prayers and readings) and Holy Communion. Jesus invites you to his table to receive the bread of life to strengthen you on the journey.
Put yourself at ease, you won’t be asked to do anything that identifies you as a guest so you can relax, take in the service, and get involved at your pace.
We want you to be comfortable, some folks wear casual clothing and some where suits and ties. What matters most to us, is that you are with us.
We offer gluten-free communion wafers to ensure everyone can fully participate in the Lord’s Table. If you have dietary needs, please let us know. We are happy to accommodate.
Parking in St. Michaels can be limited, especially during busy weekends. Street parking is available near the church, and several public lots are located within a short walking distance. We recommend arriving early to find the best spot.
