Mark was born and raised in rural Southwestern Ohio and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. After graduation, Mark moved to Fells Point in Baltimore, and practiced architecture, working on large commercial projects. It was there that Mark met his future wife, Cherie, and they started their life journey which included relocation to New Haven, CT, marriage, a career change, and kids, among other things. Mark received his second degree, an MBA in Finance and International Business from New York University, and started a new career in Real Estate finance. He joined Aetna in Hartford CT where he worked for 7 years and then Barclays Bank in New York where he was Global Head of Real Estate Credit Risk. Mark retired after 23 years with Barclays in 2023. Mark and Cherie have two children, son Matthias and his wife Nicole who live in Edinburgh Scotland, and daughter Thee and her wife Susuyu in Washington, DC. Mark and Cherie are avid cyclists and travelers. They toggle between their homes in Sherwood (which they designed and built 10 years ago) and Capitol Hill in Washington DC (where they moved back from Connecticut 7 years ago). They are very happy to find a welcoming and wonderful community at Christ Church in St. Michael’s.
This is the table, not of the Church, but of the Lord. It is made ready for those who seek God, those who love God, and those who want to love God more. So come, you who have much faith, and you who have little, or are questioning faith. Come, you who have been here often, and you who have not been for a long time or ever before. Come, you who have tried to follow and you who have failed. Come, not because the Church invites you; it is Christ who invites you to be known, to be fed, to be loved here.
