Pam Harman

Pam grew up in Talbot County, graduating from Easton High School. She graduated from University of Maryland and moved to University of Florida to complete her Master’s in linguistics. There she met her future husband and love of her life, Chip. After graduating, they flew to Japan and lived there 5 years, first teaching managers at major corporations like Toyota, Mitsubishi, etc., and then moving on to teach at a Japanese college for three years. During that time, they were active within the EFL community, editing a monthly newsletter and presenting at conferences. After leaving Japan, both Pam and Chip received Fulbright scholarships and taught at Polish universities and did teacher-training during the Cold War of the 1980’s. Upon returning to the US, Pam completed her Ph.D. program in neurolinguistics and worked at NIH and then National Rehabilitation Hospital in speech-language pathology. Pam and Chip adopted 2 children during that time. Pam recently retired as Chief of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology after working 26 years for the Dept. of Veteran Affairs Medical Center. She is now happy to be living in the quiet of Neavitt with her husband, granddaughter, and spoiled Brittany dog, tending to her gardens and enjoying the peace of the river. Pam has enjoyed serving on the Altar Guild, both here at Christ Church and in Bowie, and looks forward to continuing working with the Vestry.

The Table of the Lord

This is the table, not of the Church, but of the Lord. It is made ready for those who seek God, those who love God, and those who want to love God more. So come, you who have much faith, and you who have little, or are questioning faith. Come, you who have been here often, and you who have not been for a long time or ever before. Come, you who have tried to follow and you who have failed. Come, not because the Church invites you; it is Christ who invites you to be known, to be fed, to be loved here.
