Pastoral Care
Care
Circle
Members of the Care Circle offer assistance to parishioners
with a particular need. Most typically their ministry is that of
driving people to appointments
or preparing meals for people recovering from illness or for families
with new babies. You may help us in this ministry by becoming part
of
the Care Circle team or by letting us know of a need we can help to meet.
Eucharistic Visitors
Eucharistic Visitors
go to the homes of the sick or the shut-in on Sunday afternoons to bring
communion. This is frequently on short notice and
may mean putting off other plans. Each week a volunteer makes phone calls
to determine who might like to receive communion at home. A priest consecrates
the communion kit at one of the church services and invites the congregation
to join in sending forth the Eucharistic Visitor. There are currently
six Eucharistic Visitors who were trained by clergy and licensed by the
diocese. To become a Visitor, one should be baptized, a member of Christ
Church, and willing to serve when called upon. In the seven months of
this year our present six Visitors have already served Communion to
87
fellow members. The clergy are happy to train people in this ministry
and are eager to hear of those who would like to receive communion at
home or hospital.
Flower Delivery
The Flower Delivery group
brings flowers and greetings to those parishioners who are ill, convalescing
or for a special reason. The flowers from the
side altar are delivered after the second service on Sundays. A member
of the Altar Guild prepares them for delivery. Cards with names and
addresses
of those to receive flowers are located in the Sacristy. Our 11 volunteers
take turns each delivering about once every month.
Friendly Visitors
Friendly Visitors minister
to shut-ins and others who would like a friendly visitor from the church.
Each visitor has particular assignments and also
commits to attend a monthly check-in meeting.
The Knitting Group
The Christ Church Knitting
Group meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 10:00
AM in the Lea Library in the Parish House with
typically about 10 members in attendance. All church and community members
are welcome to join. Our purpose is to enjoy each others company while
knitting and to share the results of our creativity with members of our
church, our community, and our families. Members pursue their own interests
and supply their own materials. Come and see how creative you can be.
Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain is a group of
parishioners who commit to regular prayer for those in need in our church.
The group meets monthly for updates and
support. All are welcome to join the prayer chain but must agree to keep
the contents of the prayer list confidential.
Stephen Ministers
“Christ Caring for People through People” is the motto of
Stephen Ministry. Trained Stephen Ministers provide high-quality pastoral
care to those grieving the loss of a loved one, those in job crisis,
those
who are lonely or discouraged, new members to the community and countless
other situations in which someone is experiencing crisis or difficult
times and could benefit from ongoing one-to-one Christian care. |
